How to Set Up Multiple Address Books in a BlackBerry
Setting up multiple address lists in your BlackBerry is possible and means you can have a personal and business address list separate from each other. You can even list banks, restaurants, insurance and maintenance all separately. This is worth doing so you can find numbers more easily at work and at home.

Go to "Outlook" then "Contacts." Choose or create a category by clicking on "All Categories" then "New" and give it a name of your choice e.g. "Friends." Repeat this to make a list of your choice or categories.

Show all your contacts in a list by clicking on "View" then "Current View" and "Phone List." Click on a friend's details in the list holding down "Ctrl." Move to all your friends in the contact list one by one and click on them while keeping "Ctrl" held down. Right-click on any of the highlighted contacts and a menu will appear. Choose "Categorize" and then click on "Friends." All those contacts will now be grouped together under the category "Friends" and can be shown as a separate address list. Repeat this step for all the categories you wish to create.

Sync you address book from your computer to your BlackBerry by connecting your phone to the computer using a USB cable. Open up BlackBerry Desktop Software from the "All Programs" menu and move to "Organizer." Configure the settings to transfer from computer to device by clicking on "Configure Settings," then "Microsoft Outlook." Then by clicking on "Next," click on "One Way from Computer to Device" then "Finish." Click on "Sync." All contacts will be copied to your BlackBerry.

Go to the "Contacts" icon and click the trackball to open. Click on the menu key, i.e. the dots next to the trackball under the screen. Move to "Filter" and click on the trackball and all your categories will appear. Tick the one you want to view, e.g. "Friends" and you will then be viewing your friends contact list only.

Click onto "Filter" each time you wish to show a different address. Tick the box next to the category that contains the list you want.
