How to Install a Deck in a Toyota Corolla

The Toyota Corolla comes equipped with an AM/FM car stereo system with built-in CD player. Corolla owners who choose to replace the factory unit with an aftermarket deck can have the new head unit professionally installed by car audio technician, or you can install the new stereo yourself. Purchase the necessary adapters and obtain the required tools to save time and money on your car audio deck installation.

      Raise the Corolla's hood. Loosen the bolt on the negative battery cable clamp with the wrench and remove the cable from the battery. Set the cable aside and move to the inside of the Toyota.

      Pry the center dash panel from the dashboard with the trim panel removal tool. Pull the panel away from the dashboard and rest it on top of the dash.

      Remove the two screws on each side of the stereo bracket with the Phillips screwdriver. Slide the stereo from the Corolla's dock and disconnect the stereo wiring and antenna cable from the back of the unit. Set the factory stereo aside.

      Slide the faceplate adapter into the stereo dock. Pull the stereo wiring from the back of the dock to the front of the Corolla's dashboard. Plug the two stereo wiring connectors into the wiring harness adapter leads.

      Plug the wiring harness adapter lead connectors into the outlets on the back panel of the new audio deck. Insert the antenna cable lead into the FM antenna input on the new stereo's rear panel. Slide the unit into the faceplate adapter until it locks within the Corolla's dashboard stereo dock.

      Place the dash panel against the dashboard and press around the perimeter to snap it back into place. Return to the Toyota's battery.

      Place the negative battery cable clamp onto the negative battery terminal and tighten the bolt with the wrench. Close the Corolla's hood.
