Every mobile phone comes with its own IMEI, or International Mobile Equipment Identification, number. The IMEI is a 16- or 17-digit code consisting of numbers and letters and can be found printed on the battery of your cell phone. You can still access your IMEI code even if the battery in your phone is not the original. Cell phone providers can use triangulation to locate your cell phone with the IMEI code if your phone has been lost or stolen.

Find your IMEI code. Ideally you will have this written down somewhere in the event that your cell phone has turned up missing. It is a 17-digit code located on the battery. Another way of finding your IMEI is to dial *#06# into your phone and the IMEI will appear on the screen.

Contact your cell phone provider. Give them a valid reason for tracking your cell phone.

Give your cell phone provider your IMEI code. From there, the provider will trace your phone using a method called triangulation.
