How to Build an MTG Angel Deck

An Angel-themed deck in the “Magic: The Gathering” collectible card game revolves around the use of holy creatures such as the titular angels as well as other plains-based magic to round out the deck. These decks lean heavily toward the use of white mana as many of the angels fall under this color. When building your own angel-themed deck it is important to build off of your angel creatures with additional support spells and creatures that will allow your deck to stand up against your opponent's deck.

Things You'll Need

• 15 Plains cards
• 3 Serra Angel cards
• 2 Pristine Angel cards
• 2 Adarkar Valkyrie cards
• 3 Exalted Angel cards
• 1 Platinum Angel
• 2 Favorable Destiny
• 3 Pearl Medallion cards
• 2 Coat of Arms cards
• 1 Voice of All
• 2 Cradle of Vitality cards
• 2 Seraph cards

Instructions

1. Place 15 Plains into your deck. This card provides white mana, which is what you will use to summon all the creatures and spells in your Angel-themed deck.

2. Add three Serra Angel cards into your deck as your primary attack force. This creature has a power/toughness rating of 4/4 and can only be blocked by creatures with the Flying ability and remains untapped after attacking

3. Place two Pristine Angels into your deck. This angel cannot be hurt as long as it remains untapped. Use it as a primary attacker when your opponent has no creatures on the field.

4. Add two Adarkar Valkyrie to your deck. Use the ability of this 4/5 creature to return a defeated creature back to the battlefield to keep your ranks high.

5. Insert three Exalted Angel cards into your deck. Activate the ability of this angel to grant you life points equal to the damage you deal.

6. Add one Platinum Angel to the deck. While this card is in play you cannot lose the game and your opponent cannot win. Play this card when you are low on life and attack your opponent with every other card you have in play to even the odds.

7. Insert two Favorable Destiny cards into your deck. Cast this spell on your Platinum Angel to give the creature Shroud, making it immune to all spells cast by your opponent.

8. Insert three Pearl Medallions into the deck. This artifact reduces the cost of your white spells by one. With three in play you can summon a creature that requires four mana for only one mana.

9. Add two Coat of Arms to your deck. This grants your creatures +1/+1 for every similar creature in play. Since this is an Angel-themed deck, having four angels in the field means a +4/+4 boost to every one of them.

10. Insert one Voice of All into your deck. Choose your opponent's primary color when this card comes into play and it is protected from all spells and damage of that color.

11. Place two Cradle of Vitality cards into your deck. Use this card to place +1/+1 bonuses on a target creature equal to any life you gain in battle. Pair it with the Exalted Angel for constant boosts.

12. Add two Seraph creatures to your deck. Defeat an enemy's creature with Seraph and it falls under your control as long as Seraph remains in play.
