Measure the inside width, depth and length of the raised bed and record the individual numbers in feet. Round up to the next foot if necessary.

Multiply the three dimensions to calculate the inside volume of your raised bed. As an example, if the garden measures 2 by 8 by 16 feet, the volume equals 256 cubic feet. As a cubic yard is 27 cubic feet in volume, the inside volume of your raised bed is about 10 cubic yards.

Contact several local companies selling topsoil and inquire about the price per cubic yard.

Based upon the price plus any delivery charges, select the best offer, order 10 cubic yards and schedule a delivery time.

Direct the truck driver to back up to the edge of the raised bed if possible until the back wheels just touch it lightly.

Instruct the driver to dump the load of topsoil into the center of the raised bed.
