How to Add Beads to Bridal Bouquets
Wedding flowers are a centuries-old tradition. Brides wore garlands around their necks in ancient Greek, Latin and Celtic ceremonies. Bridal bouquets as we know them today date back to Victorian England. The bridal bouquet consists of a flower arrangement that the bride carries down the aisle during her wedding. Personalize your bridal bouquet by adding flourishes such as beads, buttons, jewelry or ribbon. At just a few cents each, beads are an inexpensive and popular way to add sparkle to your bouquet. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Purchase about 10 feet of aluminum crafting wire that matches the flower colors in your bouquet. Cut the wire into 10 strands between four and six inches longer than the circumference of your bouquet.
-
2
Bring a piece of the wire with you when you shop for beads. Experiment with different shapes, sizes and colors of beads until you find a combination that you like.

3
Twist your strand of beads into a circle; grasp the ends together with your thumb and index finger. Hold the strand up and out from your hand; if the strand of beads retains its shape, the beads are light enough for your bouquet. You can purchase them without worrying about them crushing your flowers.
-
4
Add your desired bead combination to each of the 10 wire strands after you purchase your beads. Twist the end of each piece of wire into a hook-like shape to prevent the beads from falling off the strands.
-
5
Stick the hook from one end of a beaded strand into the piece of extruded polystyrene foam that holds your flower bouquet together.
-
6
Twist the strand of beads up and around your bouquet; fasten the end hook into the other side of the extruded polystyrene foam. Repeat this procedure with each strand of beads, placing the ends at equal intervals around the foam base. Try different placements of beads until you develop the design you desire.

Tips & Warnings
After your flowers wilt, save the beads as keepsakes from your wedding. Store them in your jewelry box or in another cool, dry case. If the strands of beads are long enough, add clasps to the ends to convert them into jewelry.
