How to Remove Heavy Stains From Carpets

A solution of hydrogen peroxide and soap may do the trick.

While you can't keep all of the carpets in your home completely clean all the time, there are things you need to worry about when it comes to carpet care. For example, if a lot of liquid gets spilled onto your carpet or a substance that's particularly difficult to remove, you might end up with a heavy stain. To remove these stains from carpets, act fast and be strategic in your cleaning efforts.

Things You'll Need

• Paper towels
• Bucket
• Cloths
• Water
• Hydrogen peroxide
• Dishwashing liquid

Instructions

1. Use paper towels to remove any remaining liquid from the heavy stain on your carpet. For a heavy stain, it's likely there's quite a bit of liquid. Continue to blot with paper towels until the carpet is mostly dry.

2. Mix together a simple cleaning solution in a small bucket. The cleaning solution should consist of 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide and a few drops of dishwashing liquid. Mix thoroughly.

3. Use a clean cloth to blot the heavy carpet stain with the cleaning solution. Continue blotting to remove more and more of the heavy stain.

4. Rinse the carpet by blotting with a cloth soaked in cool water. Use a new cloth to blot the area until it is dry.
