How to Make Wizard Costumes
Get ready for a magical Halloween by creating an easy, homemade wizard costume for an adult or a child. With just a few supplies, you can put together a really cool ensemble that'll have you feeling like you are ready to cast a few spells. It's a perfect costume for a last-minute party, particularly for when you don't want to spend a lot of cash on a store-bought costume. Tweak it for a child by adding glow-in-the-dark embellishments for safety.

1
Make a pointed, cone shaped wizard hat out of either construction paper or poster board, depending on how large you'd like your hat. Black works well for a wizard hat, but dark purple or blue are good magical colors as well. Curve the paper into a cone shape until the end is pointed. Tape the hat together.

2
Cut stars out of foil to decorate the hat with. Use tape to attach the stars to the hat. Secure the hat on your head with bobby pins.

3
Dust a little baby powder in your hair to make you look older and grayer, and draw some wrinkles on with black eyeliner.
-
4
Slip on a robe and tie it with a silver or gold rope that can be purchased at a craft or hobby store in the fabric department.
-
5
Purchase a wand or make your own by using a wooden dowel that you have painted with silver craft paint. Alternately, you can use the dowel as a staff instead of a wand.
