How to Repair 2000 Honda Civic Keyless Remotes
According to mechanics with Honda, the problems drivers have with their keyless entry remotes are numerous. Fortunately many of those issues with the remote in the 2000 Civic sees are easily fixed, requiring only minor repairs you can do in your own driveway. Once you've tried each of the simple fixes your remote should work properly again. If it does not you should contact your local Honda service department for assistance, as the problem might not be the remote but the keyless system itself.

Obtain a new battery for your remote control. Batteries for Honda keyless entry remotes are sold at any auto parts store or Honda dealerhip service department. Any brand battery will work in your remote as long as it is a CR2025 model.

Slide the back of your keyless entry remote fob off by applying a little pressure. Remove the old battery, replace it with the new battery and slide the remote fob pieces back together. Test your remote.

Reprogram your keyless entry system. Sometimes after replacing the battery, keyless remotes need reprogramming to work properly with your vehicle. Turn your car on and off eight times in 10 seconds to reprogram the remote.

Start your Civic and go for a drive. A common problem in remote key fobs is the alarm deprogramming itself from your remote, which prevents the remote from working correctly. Reset the alarm by charging it with the key in the ignition of your Civic while you drive.
