How to Make Rock Candy Lollipops

Rock candy is made entirely of regular granulated sugar.

Rock candy lollipops are simple and fun to make. They can be colored or made with plain white sugar. You can wrap them in cellophane as gifts, keep them around as a sweet treat, or even use them as coffee or tea stirrers.

Things You'll Need

• Tall glass
• Clothespin
• 2 to 3 cups sugar
• 1 cup water
• Lollipop stick

Instructions

1. Bring the cup of water to a boil in a pot on the stove. Add the sugar gradually, stirring to dissolve. When no more sugar will dissolve in the water, remove from heat and allow to cool.

2. Pour the sugar and water into a tall glass.

3. Clip one end of the lollipop stick onto the clothespin and dangle it into the water. The clothespin should be able to rest on the top of the glass and prevent the stick from falling all the way into the solution. The stick should also not touch the sides of the glass.

4. Place the glass in a spot where it will not be disturbed and allow it to sit out for up to a week. The water will evaporate and the sugar will cling to the stick, forming a mound of crystallized sugar.
