How to Braid and Track Hair Extensions in a Row thumbnail
Hair braiding and tracking is not one of the easiest fashion trends to pull off, but when done correctly, it can be quite elegant, stylish and unique.

Braiding and tracking of the hair is a very popular fashion statement for individuals looking for a temporary way to change the style of their hair. As a predominant fashion in the African American community, this particular hair style is known for convenience and often lasts up to two months. Many people choose this style because it stimulates hair growth if taken care of properly, and it changes the length, fullness, color and texture of their hair. When braiding and tracking hair in rows, it is often recommended that you begin the braiding process starting from the back of the head in a horizontal direction. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

  1. Braiding Hair in Rows

    • 1

Take the tip of a comb and place it at the back of the head behind the earlobe.

    • 2

Run the tip of the comb through the hair from one side of the head moving toward the other side to part the hair.

    • 3

Tie the excess of hair at the top of the part into a rubber band to separate it from the hair you are about to braid.

    • 4

Separate it into three groups, after it has been parted.

    • 5

Braid the three parted groups of hair, by intersecting the section in your right hand under the middle group. Then, overlap the middle group of hair to create the first layer of the braid.

    • 6

Continue with the overlapping process to add the same amount of hair to each section of the braid until all of the hair is braided down to the end. Try to keep the size of the braids consistent as you continue.

    • 7

Repeat Steps 1-3 on the rest of the head until all loose hair has been braided.

Tracking Hair Extensions in a Row

    • 8

Use the comb to separate the braided hair just as you would when braiding.

    • 9

Tie the excess hair to avoid placing hair glue on areas where it does not belong.

    • 10

Open the hair glue. Then, apply the glue to the parted area of the hair.

    • 11

Take the track into both hands. Position it across the horizontal braid in the back of the head. Place the tracks close to the scalp for best results.

    • 12

Repeat the process over each braid until the hair is completely filled with the tracked hair.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have absolutely no experience with braiding and tracking, it is highly recommended that you consult a hair specialist before attempting to do so on your own. While braiding and tracking are common skills that can be taught to just about anyone, it is important to be careful, as braiding and tracking can cause hair breakage and knotting if done incorrectly.
