How to Remove a Ghost Drive

Norton Ghost imaging software takes a copy of your hard drive and creates a partition (essentially a copy of it) in case your computer crashes. To delete the partition, use the Windows Disk Management tool. Deleting the partition frees up hard drive space, which you can use for other applications or files.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the Windows "Start" button (the Windows logo on the lower-left-hand corner of the screen) and select "Control Panel." Click "System and Security," then click "Administrative Tools." Double-click "Computer Management" to open the main management utility.

    • 2

Click "Disk Management" in the "Storage" section. Disk Management displays all of your current partitions, including the Ghost image partition.

    • 3

Right-click the Ghost partition. Select "Delete" from the popup menu. Click "Yes" to confirm that you want to delete the partition.
