How to Create Fake Gray Hair for Halloween

Turn your hair into believable gray locks with a few easy steps.

Many costumes require elaborate makeup or changing your hair color. If the person or character you're impersonating has gray hair, there are certain steps you can take to give this illusion without making the results permanent.

Things You'll Need

• Gray face paint
• Sponge
• Baby powder

Instructions

All Hair Types

1. Take the sponge and dip it in the gray face makeup.

2. Starting at the temples (this is where people start to go gray, so focusing on this area will create a more realistic look) start brushing the sponge back into the hair.

3. Cover the entire head with the gray costume makeup, using more paint for a fuller look and brushing in less for a salt-and-pepper look.

Dark Brown or Black Hair

1. Sprinkle baby powder throughout your whole head if you have dark brown or black hair.

2. Brush the baby powder through without shaking it completely out.

3. Repeat twice for best results.

Tips & Warnings

• You might want to carry the baby powder with you if you're in a humid environment so that you can reapply it if necessary.
