How to Make Yami Yugi Costumes

Yugi Mutou (also known as Yami Yugi) is the main character of the children's anime television show "Yu-Gi-Oh!," which is syndicated on several television networks. The creation of a costume for anime characters, such as Yugi, is a popular hobby known as cosplay. Cosplay costumes are often found at science fiction and comic book conventions, either simply for fun or to be entered into contests. Creating your own Yami Yugi costume will combine found clothing with crafted items.

Instructions

  1. The Clothes

    • 1

Cut the sleeves off of a black t-shirt at the shoulder seam line.

    • 2

Put on the t-shirt, along with black pants and shoes.

    • 3

Add a black leather belt with silver studs along its length, as well as black leather chokers for the neck and wristbands. All of these should be thick and belt-like with silver buckles.

    The Necklace

    • 4

Cut out five pieces of cardboard. One should be four inches square, and the others should be identical triangles. For the triangles, measure a 4-inch bottom, then draw a line 4 inches up from the middle (imagine an upside-down T). Draw diagonal lines from the point to the sides of the base to form a triangle.

    • 5

Cut two small holes in the base, about an inch apart.

    • 6

Cut out the square base and four triangles, then glue the pieces together to form a pyramid.

    • 7

Spray paint the pyramid gold, and allow it to dry.

    • 8

Draw an eye on all four sides of the pyramid with scrolls around it.

    • 9

Thread a piece of wire through the holes in the base, and twist it onto the ends of a chain to finish the necklace. The chain should be long enough to allow the pyramid to sit, upside-down, at mid-chest.

    The Hair

    • 10

Sew the blonde weft (a string of hair braided to a cord) along the hairline of an orange-red wig. The wig should be shoulder length.

    • 11

Tease and back comb the hair into several large spikes by holding the ends and combing backward toward the base, using a lot of hairspray to hold it in place.

    • 12

Arrange a bit of the blonde hair to run up the center of each spike, using hairspray to glue it in place. Let the rest of the blonde hair hang down onto your face, bunched into four pieces.
