How to Have iTunes Automatically Search for New Music
If you own an iPod, you know well how iTunes is the only software you can use to upload and organize music on your iPod. The program comes with a built-in music player so you can also listen to music on your computer. Despite new versions of iTunes being released, the program still lacks the function to search and add music automatically to your iTunes library, but there are a few other ways to perform this task.

1
Open the latest version of iTunes. Create a folder to add music to using this path: C:\Users\Your Username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Automatically Add to iTunes\p. Any new music added to this folder will be automatically added to iTunes. (Resource 1)

Use freeware. You can easily find a lot of freeware online that can automatically search and update new music for you, regardless of which version of iTunes you are using. One of the most popular freewares is iTunes Library Updater. On installation, you will come across a very simple user interface that can be used to update your iTunes library. You have to manually run this tool, however, every time you want an update. (Resource 2)

Pay for software. If you need complete automatic functionality to get your iTunes library to update as soon as you download music to a pre-determined folder, use iTunes Folder Watch. Although the version you download from the website is free, it will function exactly like iTunes Library Updater. Pay a small annual amount to gain full functionality. For the amount you pay, you will get a bundled software by which you can automatically add images to your iTunes library, too. (Resource 3)
