How to Wear a Lapel Pin on a Suit

Wear a lapel pin on the lapel of your suit jacket.

People wear lapel pins for many reasons, and there is an almost endless variety of pins from which to choose. Many times people wear pins to promote an event or business. They also wear them to show achievement in a certain area of expertise or skill, and to promote causes and silently gain support for them. For example, people wear the pink breast cancer ribbon on their clothing or suits to promote breast cancer awareness.

Instructions

1. Lay your suit coat down on a flat surface such as your bed.

2. Place the pin on each lapel and in different positions to decide where you would like to wear it. There is no wrong placement or position for a lapel pin. Most people choose to place their pins on the right lapel, near the button hole. If you are wearing more than one pin at one time, arrange them symmetrically.

3. Remove the back of the lapel pin. Lift up the lapel slightly and push the pin into the fabric from the front side through to the back. Keep your fingers out of the way of the sharp pin point.

4. Replace the back of the lapel pin securely so that the pin does not move while it is on your lapel. Put on your suit jacket and view the pin in the mirror. Adjust it as needed so that it is upright and not crooked.
