How to Roll Diapers for Diaper Cakes

Roll diapers into a cylider shape to assemble the tiers for a diaper cake.

Diaper cakes are often made as a baby shower present or centerpiece. They resemble edible cakes and are made up of rolled diapers, toys and baby items. Instead of purchasing a pricey diaper cake, you can make your own at home. Before you can construct a diaper cake, you will need to roll the baby diapers. Rolling the diapers properly allows you to assemble them into cake tiers and it gives the diaper cake a neat appearance.

• Rubber bands or ribbon

Instructions

Disposable Diapers

1. Open the diaper on a flat surface. The inside will face toward you. Do not unfold the flaps of the diaper.

2. Roll the diaper from the front to the back tightly and evenly. This will create a cylinder shape.

3. Secure the rolled diaper with a small rubber band to keep it from unraveling. You can also tie a 1-foot ribbon around the diaper into a bow.

Cloth Diapers

1. Open the cloth diaper up on a flat surface.

2. Fold the cloth diaper using a tri-fold by folding it three times to create a long strip.

3. Roll the strip into a long cylinder shape. Secure the diaper with a rubber band or ribbon.

Tips & Warnings

• Hide baby items like pacifiers, socks and toys between the tiers of the diaper cake.

• Roll the baby diapers on a clean and sterile surface to prevent contaminating them.
