How to Eliminate Carpet Smells
Carpets, like other cloth materials, absorb the smells in the room. This can be a good thing if you constantly clean and sanitize your rooms, but your carpet may absorb bad odors if you have children or pets. Remove these odors by sprinkling the carpet with an odor-absorbing compound and using odor-neutralizing cleaners. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Sprinkle the entire carpet with baking soda. Baking soda absorbs the smells it comes into contact with and will pull bad odors out of your carpet.
-
2
Let the baking soda sit on the carpet overnight. The longer it sits on the carpet, the more thorough it will be.
-
-
3
Vacuum up the baking soda. Smell the carpet to see if the baking soda removed all of the smell. A slight smell might still be present.
-
4
Repeat the process for another night.
-
5
Lightly mist the carpet with white vinegar if the smell is still present. White vinegar will neutralize smells in the carpet. Do not soak the carpet as this will change the texture and force you to rinse the carpet.
-
6
Let the carpet air dry.
