How to Raise and Lower a Jeep Driver Seat

How to Raise and Lower a Jeep Driver Seat thumbnail
Raise or lower the driver seat of your Jeep.

Jeep makes a number of rugged utility vehicles for both road and off-road driving. Many of Jeep's vehicles allow you to adjust the position of the seats so that the ride is more comfortable. The driver side seat can be moved closer to the wheel and further away, and the neck and back can be tilted at more drastic angles. Some models allow even more customization by using a lever that can raise or lower the height of the seat.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the driver side door and locate the bar on the outside of the driver seat close to the door. This bar controls the height positioning of the seat.

    • 2

Pull up on the bar to raise the seat a small amount. Each pull will raise the seat in increments, so repeatedly pull up and allow the bar to return to normal. The bar works the same way as a ratchet.

    • 3

Push the bar down in the same fashion described above to lower the seat height. Repeat this process until you achieve the desired height.

    • 4

Sit in the Jeep so that you can gauge how high or low you wish to set the seat position. Your weight can make raising the seat more difficult so once you know what you want to do with the seat, exit the vehicle and either push down or pull up on the bar to finalize the height.
