Instructions

    • 1

Spray a commercial ice prevention liquid on the car's windshield at night before a frost is expected. Follow the instructions on the label for proper application.

    • 2

Mix three parts vinegar or rubbing alcohol with one part water in a spray bottle. Spray the windshield thoroughly.

    • 3

Mix dish soap and water in a spray bottle. The mix should feel soapy to the touch. Spray the windshield thoroughly.

    • 4

Purchase and use a car cover that is designed to prevent ice formation. If you don't want to purchase a car cover, use an old blanket instead. Lift the windshield wipers up off the windshield. Place the blanket across the windshield. Pull it tight and secure it in place by closing it in the front passenger and driver doors, then lower the windshield wipers against the blanket. In the morning, remove the cover or blanket to reveal an ice-free windshield.

Tips & Warnings

  • When using one of the sprays described in this article, improve driving safety by also spraying the side windows and rear windshield.
