Instructions

    • 1

Select the right sized masonry bit for the hole you want to drill.

    • 2

Turn the terra cotta pot upside down and pour enough water over it to dampen the clay.

    • 3

Attach the masonry bit to the drill, plug it in and turn it to the "On" position. Position yourself squarely over the pot and slowly begin to drill the hole using firm pressure without undue force. Let the drill do the work.

    • 4

Stop drilling midway through and spray a little water onto the bit. If you have a helper, ask them to spray the water as you are drilling.

    • 5

Pull the spinning bit slowly back up once you have established the hole and then turn off the drill.

Tips & Warnings

  • Practice on an old or inexpensive terra cotta pot that you are not using for your project so that you can get an idea of how much pressure to apply when using the drill.
