How to Apply Car Wax in Cold Weather
Cars should be waxed every three months in order to maintain their best shine. If you live in an area that isn't a tropical paradise, this means that you will have to apply wax during the winter. Wax is intended to be applied when the weather is between 60 and 80 degrees, so working in colder temperatures requires some extra work. While it is more difficult to apply wax in cold weather, it can be done.

1
Clean the car thoroughly to ensure the wax gets the best possible bond. Make sure you dry it to remove any ice particles.
-
2
Park the car in the sun to help heat it up. If you have access to a garage, it will make your job much easier. Even a garage without special heating will be warmer than the outside air.

3
Spread the wax over the car in small circles. Work quickly with a lot of friction to help heat the wax. Without heat it will not be able to fill the microscopic imperfections in the paint.
-
4
Allow the wax to haze. This should only take a few minutes, though the cold may slow the process.
-
5
Buff the wax vigorously with a clean, soft towel or shammy. Once again work quickly, using friction to heat the wax and help it buff out.
