Instructions

    • 1

Fill a large pail with warm water. Mix in plant food according to the manufacturer's directions. Allow it to sit 30 minutes to aerate.

    • 2

Unwrap the flowers. Snip off any thorns, and remove wilted leaves. Hold them under running water, and slice 1/2 inch off the ends of the stalks before placing them in the pail. Repeat this process for all the flowers.

    • 3

Spray paint a cardboard gift box with lid to match the theme colors of the party, and allow it to dry. Wrap ribbon around the box, and tie it into a bow with the ends dangling down the sides.

    • 4

Review photographs of the birthday child, and make copies of them. Pick different photograph copies for each centerpiece, or use the same pictures for all the centerpieces. Glue a picture to each side of the box.

    • 5

Cut a slit in the top of the box. Write "Happy 16th" in script around the sides with paint pens.

    • 6

Cut the flower stems so they are tall enough to extend above the edge of the box. Place one flower into each of the flower tubes, and add water. Stick the tubes through the slit in the box, and arrange the flowers. Stack several small boxes with flowers arranged similarly next to the larger box.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add a tiara to the box for a sweet 16 centerpiece for a girl.

  • Cut several slits into the top of the box that are close together to create a wider flower arrangement.

  • Place candles or photo frames with additional pictures on the table.

  • Select large flowers with strong stems.
