How to Use Versamark Stamp Pad
If you are hooked on rubber stamping, you already know that the stamped images you create have nearly unlimited uses: everything from greeting cards to stationery to scrapbook pages. It's always fun to find new ways to use rubber stamps. The VersaMark stamp pad is an accessory that will do just that. It's an ink pad that works with items you most likely already have, to create a variety of effects. It's a valuable addition to any crafter's or scrapbooker's toolbox.
Things You'll Need
- VersaMark stamp pad
- Variety of papers and card stock, all colors
- Rubber stamps, images of your choice
- Embossing powder
- Heat gun or hair dryer
- Brayer (small rubber ink roller)
- Variety of ink pads, colors of your choice
Instructions
-
Stationery
-
1
Select a piece of pastel-colored paper, stationery weight.
-
2
Choose a rubber stamp that you would like to use as a watermark for your stationery.
-
-
3
Press the stamp onto the VersaMark pad and hold it a few seconds to make sure the raised surface of the stamp is sufficiently coated with the VersaMark ink.
-
4
Stamp the stationery paper with the inked rubber stamp. You may be able to stamp more than once if you've gotten enough of the VersaMark ink on the rubber stamp.
-
5
Allow the ink to dry completely to see the final results. The VersaMark ink will get darker as it dries, creating a deeper shade of the color in which it was stamped and creating a subtle tone-on-tone watermark.
Embossing
-
6
Select a card stock of any color.
-
7
Choose a rubber stamp with an image that you would like to emboss.
-
8
Press the stamp onto the VersaMark pad and hold it a few seconds to ensure that the surface of the stamp is sufficiently coated with ink.
-
9
Stamp the card stock with the inked rubber stamp.
-
10
Sprinkle the embossing powder over the stamped image on the card stock. Allow it to set for about one minute, then pick up the card and gently shake the excess powder onto a separate piece of paper. You can reuse embossing powder, so don't discard it.
-
11
Turn on the heat gun or hair dryer and allow the air to get hot for a few seconds.
-
12
Hold the heat gun over the stamped image. The hot air will melt the embossing powder and set it.
Resisting
-
13
Select a piece of white or pastel-colored glossy card stock.
-
14
Choose a rubber stamp with an image you would like on your card.
-
15
Press the stamp onto the VersaMark pad and hold it a few seconds to sufficiently coat the stamp with the VersaMark ink.
-
16
Stamp the glossy card stock with the inked rubber stamp.
-
17
Allow the ink to dry completely. Drying time can be shortened by heat-setting the ink with a heat gun or hair dryer.
-
18
Select an ink pad with a color darker than but complementary to your card stock.
-
19
Roll your brayer back and forth over the ink pad to evenly cover the brayer's roller completely with ink.
-
20
Roll the brayer over the stamped image. The VersaMark ink will resist the colored ink and create a reversed or negative image.

Tips & Warnings
All supplies are available at any craft supply store.
If you use a hair dryer instead of a heat gun to emboss, set the temperature to the hottest setting.
Clean your rubber stamps after use. It will prolong the life of the stamp and will keep your VersaMark stamp pad from getting stained from other inks. Running the stamps under water is a sufficient way to clean them, but you can find cleaners specifically made to clean rubber stamps at any craft store.
