Instructions

    • 1

Dust your work surface and a rolling pin with a light coating of flour to prevent your cookie dough from sticking.

    • 2

Place store-bought or homemade sugar-cookie dough onto your work surface and roll it with a rolling pin until it is approximately 1/8-inch thick.

    • 3

Cut the cookie dough with a flower-shaped cookie cutter until you have the desired amount of flowers. You can also use cookie cutters in different shapes to add visual interest to your cookie arrangement.

    • 4

Place the cookies on a cookie sheet and bake them according to your recipe's directions. If you do not have the directions, bake your cookies at 350 degrees until the edges appear golden.

    • 5

Remove the cookie sheet from the oven using pot holders to protect your hands and allow the cookies to cool completely.

    • 6

Remove the cookies from the pan with a spatula and place them upside down on your clean work surface.

    • 7

Place approximately 1/2 cup of candy melting wafers into a microwave safe bowl.

    • 8

Microwave the wafers on high for one minute and then stir them thoroughly. Continue to heat the candy at one-minute intervals until it is smooth and melted.

    • 9

Place the end of a 10-inch-long wooden skewer onto the back of one cookie. The skewer must extend at least halfway across the back of the cookie with the rest of the skewer extending from the bottom of the cookie.

    • 10

Pour approximately 1/2 tbsp. of the melted candy onto the center of the cookie to cover the skewer. Repeat this process for all of the cookies and wait for the candy to cool and harden before you continue.

    • 11

Turn the cookies over and decorate the front of each cookie with icing and sprinkles as desired.

    • 12

Place a Styrofoam ball into the bottom of a clean vase.

    • 13

Insert the end of each cookie-adorned skewer into the vase, pushing it into the Styrofoam ball to hold it in place.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can save time by using store bought cookies instead of baking them yourself.

  • You can cut the skewers to vary the length of each cookie stem as desired when assembling your arrangement.
