How to Make a Candle With Sea Glass

How to Make a Candle With Sea Glass thumbnail
You can use sea glass to make a beautiful candle.

Sea glass is created when a piece of broken glass tumbles around in the ocean until it becomes as smooth and round as a polished stone. Many people collect sea glass to display around their homes or to make jewelry. One way to use these colorful glass stones is to make a decorative candle using the sea glass as an accent. You can make your own sea glass candle at home using a few basic craft materials.

Instructions

    • 1

Place 1 lb. of paraffin wax into an empty, clean coffee can.

    • 2

Place the can into a pot and fill the pot halfway with water.

    • 3

Heat the pot over medium-high heat until the wax completely melts.

    • 4

Mix in 2 tsp. of an essential oil, your choice.

    • 5

Grease the outside of a drinking glass with petroleum jelly.

    • 6

Place the glass into the middle of a glass mason jar. This will create a ring on the inside of the jar.

    • 7

Fill the outside ring with pieces of sea glass.

    • 8

Place a funnel into the inside ring, and pour some of the paraffin wax into it. Continue pouring the wax until the entire inside ring is filled with wax.

    • 9

Allow the wax to cool completely.

    • 10

      Remove the drinking glass.

    • 11

Cut a 6-inch length of cotton candle wick

    • 12

Place two clothespins onto one end of the wick, and place the wick into the middle of the jar. The clothespins will keep the wick standing upright.

    • 13

Fill the middle of the jar with the remaining wax.

    • 14

Allow the wax to cool completely, then remove the clothespins.
