How to Make a Durable Duct Tape Wallet
Duct tape wallet making is a fun craft project that can be mastered relatively easily. If you provide some supervision regarding scissors and craft knives (if the latter is used), children can enjoy making them as well. The finished product is an unusual but durable billfold style wallet. Using either ordinary silver duct tape or the colored kind, you can construct a basic billfold type wallet from a few squares constructed out of tape strips.
Things You'll Need
- Roll of duct tape
- Work board or cutting mat
- Ruler
- Scissors or craft knife
- Dollar bill
- Credit or library card
- Duct tape in contrasting color (optional)
- Decorations such as sequins and stickers (optional)

1
Measure the wallet size with a dollar bill. Measure a strip of duct tape that is 8 1/2 inches long and place it sticky side up on your work board. Take a second strip of the same length and place it sticky side down overlapping the first piece by one half. Fold the remaining half of the first strip down over the second. Flip the two strips, and repeat this process with the addition of more 8-1/2-inch-long strips, until you have a piece that measures 7 inches. Trim the edges if needed to even the sides of the piece. Check your measurements by placing a dollar bill against the wallet. The wallet should be slightly longer than the length of the bill and slightly wider.

The wallet will consist of an rectangle that folds in half. Fold your piece of duct tape material lengthwise to form the main part of the wallet, which will be used to hold bills. Fold it in half again to form the main center fold of the wallet.

Small duct tape rectangles will form credit card pockets on your wallet. Create credit card pockets for the left hand side of the wallet billfold by making smaller squares. Measure the left-hand side of the wallet to determine the dimensions of the pockets. Make the pockets in the same way that you created the main part of the wallet in Step 1. Check the size against a credit card, to make sure that it will fit in the pocket.Tape the pockets to the billfold, placing the first pocket at the top left hand inside of the wallet. Layer them one on top of the other so that they slightly overlap each other. Tape the edges of the pockets to the main wallet to secure.

Stickers can decorate the outside of your duct tape wallet. If you wish, decorate the outside of the wallet with stickers or other glued-on decorations. You can also use duct tape in a contrasting color to create a striped or other pattern, or perhaps the wallet owner's initial, on the outside of your wallet.
