How to Make a Craft Microphone

Get this child a craft microphone.

If you have a singer in your family who is too young to play with a real microphone, then lead him in an art activity in which you make a play microphone. This crafting activity uses everyday items that you likely have at your house. Be creative, and do not forget to belt it out with your young one once you have finished your microphone masterpiece.

Things You'll Need

• Toilet paper roll
• Aluminum foil
• Hot glue gun
• Hot glue sticks
• Tape
• Crepe paper streamers
• Markers or crayons

Instructions

1. Draw designs on the toilet paper roll with markers and crayons. Children may need to work together on this step. One person can hold the roll, while the other decorates it.

2. Roll up a wad of aluminum foil, and place it in the end of the tube. Gently push the wad to the other end so that it is poking out, similar to the way a microphone looks. If you do not get the rounded look that you want, consider turning the roll over and pounding the end with the foil on the table until it flattens against the roll. Roll up another ball of foil that is very round. Glue it on top of the flattened end using hot glue.

3. Cut long strips of crepe paper, and tape them to the inside of the bottom of the toilet paper roll. It's time to sing!
