Instructions

  1. Metal Objects

    • 1

Fill a bucket with white distilled vinegar.

    • 2

Place the rusted item into the bucket and allow it to soak for a minimum of 15 minutes.

    • 3

Remove the rusted item from the vinegar and rinse it under running water. This should rinse away the rust. For stubborn rust stains, use a piece of steel wool or a mesh dish scrubber to rub the rusted area.

    • 4

Dry the metal object thoroughly using a dry rag.

    Countertops

    • 5

Sprinkle powdered lemonade onto the rust stain. Let it sit for 3 to 4 hours.

    • 6

Rinse a toothbrush under running water. Dip the wet toothbrush into baking soda so that the baking soda sticks to the toothbrush.

    • 7

Use the baking soda toothbrush to scrub the powdered lemonade into the rust stain.

    • 8

Use a wet sponge to wipe away the baking soda and lemonade. Rinse the sponge and rewipe the area to clean the countertop.

    • 9

Repeat the entire procedure if needed. Alternately, you can mix equal parts of lemonade powder and baking soda together. Add water to the mixture until you have a thick paste. Then use the wet toothbrush to scrub the area, rinsing it with a sponge when you are done.

    Clothing

    • 10

Pour lemon juice onto the stained clothing. Thoroughly saturate the stain. You can use fresh lemon juice or packaged lemon juice.

    • 11

Pour table salt onto the lemon-juice-soaked stain.

    • 12

Lay the clothing outside and allow the sun to beat directly down on the clothing.

    • 13

Wash the clothing according to the instructions on the tag. If you normally wash and dry your clothing in a machine, follow your normal cleaning procedure and use your normal detergents.
