Instructions

    • 1

Replace the battery in the Lance scooter if the engine does not turn over at start-up. Lift the seat of the scooter straight up to access the battery housing. Remove the two battery cables by loosening the bolts on the terminals, starting with the positive (+) terminal, then set each cable aside.

    • 2

Grasp the battery from both sides and firmly pull it upward and out of the saddle. Set the old battery off to the side. Mount the new battery into the saddle, Reconnect the terminals, starting with the negative (-) one then tighten the bolts. Start the Lance scooter as normal.

    • 3

Replace worn down tires with new ones to avoid flats and skidding on the road. Lance scooters are factory-equipped with lesser quality tires. Carefully lift the scooter onto its back wheel then place it upside down on its handlebars.

    • 4

Unbolt the wheel wells with a ratchet then loosen the tire structure. Remove the restraining bolt that keeps the wheel in place. Slowly lift the tire away and set it off to the side. Slide a new tire into the wheel well, replace the restraining bolt then tighten the bolt and the wheel well cover.

    • 5

Use an emergency gas canister to fill your Lance scooter with gasoline should the gasoline gauge or gauge cluster stop working. This is the third most common problem with Lance scooters. Use a screwdriver to remove the dashboard and gently lift it away.

    • 6

Inspect the wires in the gauge cluster. If any of them have become detached, are frayed on the ends or have loosened at their connection points, re-attach them. Grip the dial bases of each gauge and set them to "0" or in some models to "Test." Remount the dash onto the scooter and screw it in tightly.
