How to Personalize Your Own Glass Pendant

To make a glass pendant special, personalize it with a name, a special date, an image or anything else that you would like. Glass etching is a simple way to add your personal touch to any glass item in an elegant way. Although glass etching is easy and simple, parents should supervise children while using the crafting knife and etching cream.

Things You'll Need

• Glass pendant
• Contact Paper
• Paint brush
• Etching cream
• Gloves

Instructions

1. Print out the letters or numbers you want to use to personalize your glass pendant. Cut them out using a crafting knife. Use this as a guide to create the contact paper stencil. If you would rather use an image than letters or numbers, make sure you choose a silhouette rather than a detailed drawing.

2. Lay the stencil down on the contact paper. Trace the shape, letters or numbers onto the contact paper. Cut the shapes out of the contact paper using your crafting knife to create a stencil for your etching.

3. Wipe down your glass pendant with glass cleaner, making sure it is free of lint and dust. Peel the backing off the contact paper and lay it on top of the pendant. Press out any air bubbles.

4. Spread a layer of etching cream over the stencil using a brush. Follow the instructions on your specific brand of etching cream to determine how long it should sit on the glass. Wash off the etching cream after the waiting period. Peel the contact paper off the glass carefully to reveal your personalized pendant.

Tips & Warnings

• Peel off the contact paper very slowly for best results.

• Be very careful when using etching cream. Use gloves and do not get the etching cream anywhere near your eyes.
