How to Clean a Non-Stick Steam Iron
Steam irons work well when you need to remove wrinkles from clothing because the heat combined with the steam quickly loosens wrinkles and gives your clothing and similar fabrics a fresh, crisp look. Just as with any other appliance, your non-stick steam iron needs regular cleaning to remove the buildup that accumulates over time. Clean the iron with low-cost household items. Moisten the edge of a cleaning rag with a special soleplate iron cleaner found at your local supermarket.

Turn the iron off and let it cool slightly, but make sure it remains warm as this keeps the residue loose.

Rub the cleaning solution into the steam iron base, and repeat until you remove all the residue.

Dampen a cotton swab with the solution and rub it across the steam-hole openings to remove the residue from these small crevices.

Wipe a damp cleaning rag over the iron using distilled water only and dry with a clean rag.

Tips & Warnings
If you regularly use tap water in your steam iron, alternate the water with distilled water or stick entirely to distilled water if your tap water supply has a high mineral content. This will reduce mineral buildup and residue in your iron.
