Raise Frankenstein from the dead with a cool homemade costume.

Frankenstein is a haunting story about a scientist that puts together his own monster. Be your own monster-maker by creating a homemade and simple Frankenstein costume. Frankenstein will be a hit at any Halloween party and is also a cute costume idea for small kids. For a fun couples costume, put a few feminine twists on it to make a Bride of Frankenstein costume. Don't forget, Frankenstein wasn't big on words, so keep speech to a minimum to make it authentic.

Instructions

    • 1

Paint your entire face with green makeup. Use a smaller brush to create Frankenstein's scars. Make long marks with the black paint and draw smaller lines across the big lines to create nasty looking scars. Do a couple of these; maybe one on the forehead and a smaller one across the cheek.

Color your hair black. Use spray color or wash in temporary color. Add some white colored streaks for more authenticity if you like. Long white streaks add a creepy effect to the hair. Tease the hair as high as it will go, using gel or mousse to keep it looking tall. Frankenstein's hair was tall and slicked back on most of the movies and stories.

Make neck bolts out of wine corks, or purchase bolts from a costume shop. The bolts can be applied with professional makeup adhesive, or you can glue them to a headband and place the headband around the neck. They can also be attached to a choker style necklace with glue.

Dress yourself in black. A white T-shirt under a black blazer will make up the top part of Frankenstein's signature outfit. Add black pants and tall, clunky platform shoes to finish the look off. Secondhand clothes will work great if you don't have these items in your wardrobe, because they should look a little old and dingy. If they look new, dust some baby powder over yourself to add some shabbiness to the costume. If they are second hand clothes, use scissors to make some rips in them.
