How to Reset Zune Firmware
The Zune is a personal multimedia player from Microsoft. It lets you listen to music, watch videos, listen to online radio stations and share data with others. If your Zune freezes during use or if you need to erase all of its data, you can erase your Zune by doing a firmware reset. The firmware reset deletes all of your personal files and restores the Zune's firmware to the factory version.

Slide the "Hold" switch on your Zune to the unlocked position. Press and hold the "Back" button and the top of the "Zune Pad." Release both buttons when your Zune powers up.

Press and hold the "Back" button, "Zune Pad" and the "Play/Pause" button immediately if you have a Zune that is not the 30 GB version. Press and hold the "Back" button, left side of the "Zune Pad" and the center of the "Zune" pad immediately if you have the 30 GB Zune.

Release the buttons when your Zune displays "Please wait" or "Clearing contents. Please wait." Connect the USB cable that came with your Zune to the bottom of your Zune with one end and to an available USB port on your computer with the other end when prompted. Open your Zune's software on your computer and install any updates if prompted.
