How to Use a DVR Remote Viewer
Having a DVR is very useful for recording your favorite shows on a schedule and viewing the content at a later date in your home. However, it's not so useful if you want to watch that content somewhere other than your couch. A DVR remote viewer fixes this, allowing you to watch your shows from anywhere, from any device with an Internet connection.

1
Sit your DVR remote viewer on or next to your DVR. Insert the power cable that comes with your remote viewer into the unit and then into an open power socket.

2
Find the component inputs on the back of your DVR. They will be colored red, green and blue. Plug the matching plugs into the inputs. Repeat this step on the back of the remote viewer, linking both units together.

Locate the port for the IR transmitter cable that comes with your remote viewer and plug it in. Position the other end of the IR transmitter so it is facing the IR receiver of the DVR. You may need to look to your DVR owner's manual for the location.

4
Turn on your computer and open your preferred web browser. Visit the web address that comes with your remote viewer to access the setup page. Follow all on-screen directions, including making a username, password and linking to your wireless home network. Click "Done" and close the screen when finished.

5
Run your preferred web browser on your mobile device, like a laptop, phone or tablet. Go to the website you used to set up the device. Log in using your username and password. You will now have access to the content of your DVR wherever you go. The signal from the DVR is streamed to the remote viewer and the viewer then sends it to the web service that streams it to your mobile device.
