How to Waterproof a Canvas Jacket

If you own a canvas jacket, chances are you might be tired of walking around with a wet jacket after getting soaked in the rain. To prevent this from happening, waterproof your jacket. After properly applying a waterproofing product, water will bead up and roll off the material instead of being absorbed by the canvas. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Washing machine

Instructions

      Load the clean jacket into the washing machine.

      Pour some waterproofing solution into the washing machine's liquid dispenser. A good waterproofing solution for canvas is Nikwax Cotton Proof.

      Start the machine on a cotton wash cycle. Let the machine finish, and remove the jacket.

      Hang the jacket to air dry or place it in a dryer (if it is dryer-safe). Tumble dry the jacket on a low setting, and remove when the cycle is complete.
