How to Make Your Own BBCode Emoticons
BBCode is a markup language for bulletin boards that let users add in images, links and other data types besides text for use in their message board postings. Typically, message boards provide "smiley" packs that let users easily add special emoticons to their posts, but if you want to add your own, custom emoticon you will need to create the image yourself and then add the image to your post using BBCode tags.

1
Create your emoticon using an image manipulation program such as Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Paint or The Gimp. Since emoticons are typically only 25-by-25 pixels or smaller, make sure that you reduce your image's size to appropriately fit.
-
2
Open a Web browser window and navigate to an image uploading service such as Yahoo!'s Flickr, Google's Picasa, ImageShack or Imgur. Any free or premium service will work as long as you can link directly to the image.

3
Upload your image to your preferred service, then copy the provided URL for a direct link. Some image sites provide BBCode already, which you can use instead of continuing.
-
4
Open another Web browser window or tab and navigate to the message board where you want to post the emoticon. Log in if you need to, then select the forum you want to post to and create a new post.

5
Click the "BBCode" radial button to enable BBCode in your post, then paste your image's direct link into the body of your message posting wherever you would like the emoticon to appear. Type "[img]{" at the beginning of your URL, then "}[/img]" at the end.
