Instructions

    • 1

Pull the top drawer of the filing cabinet completely out. Locate the lock assembly knockout. The knockout is an oval shaped punch in the metal, usually at the top-right or top-center of the filing cabinet.

    • 2

Place the punch in the center of the knockout. Tap the punch firmly with a hammer to knock out the oval piece.

    • 3

Insert the key in the lock and turn it until the bolt of the locking mechanism is facing up.

    • 4

Insert the lock assembly into the knockout hole. Turn the key one-quarter-turn clockwise.

    • 5

Locate the retaining clip that came with the lock assembly. Slide the clip into the grooves on the lock cylinder on the inside of the cabinet.

    • 6

Insert the linkage piece of the locking mechanism into the hole in the lock bolt. Turn the linkage mechanism so that it is facing down. Put the square end of the linkage into the square hole in the lock assembly.

    • 7

Replace the drawer, and remove the key from the lock.
