How to Make Newspaper Party Hats
If you are looking for an amusing craft activity for your children that utilizes materials that you already have at your house, consider teaching them to make newspaper hats. These hats can be used for an impromptu party following the hat-making. Your children can decorate their hats with crayons and markers. Encourage them to be creative.
Instructions
-
-
1
Cut a newspaper sheet in half vertically, so that you have a single vertical sheet of newspaper as your base.
-
2
Decorate both sides of the newspaper page with markers and crayons.
-
-
3
Fold the piece of paper in half horizontally.
-
4
Turn the paper so that it is oriented horizontally. Fold down the left- and right-top corners to the center of the page, so they fold into triangles.
-
5
Fold the bottom edge of the page up so that it meets the bottom of the two folded corners. Repeat on the other side.

Tips & Warnings
The hat should stay together on its own, but you can secure each side by placing a small bit of tape at each crease that may come undone -- at the top of each of the hat edges, for instance.
