How to Link Fence Panels

How to Link Fence Panels thumbnail
Fence panels are versatile livestock management tools.

Keeping livestock safely corralled requires strong fence panels and a strong linking system. A linking system that's easy to install and difficult for the livestock to undo is the best of both worlds. Livestock, like a young child trying to open a cupboard under the sink, will try and test the fences that protect them. Drop pins are used to link panels together quickly and easily, but they make it difficult for animals to unlink them. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Ask a helper to lift up one fence panel while you lift up another.

    • 2

Bring the ends of the two panels together so the hinges align.

    • 3

Drop a steel pin down through the hinges to link the ends of the panels together. The pin will have a hook on the top to keep it from falling through the hinges.

Tips & Warnings

  • Fence panels vary in design, but most require one or more steel pins to hinge the panels together.

  • You may have to use a hammer to get the pin down through the hinges.

  • Failure to link the fence panels properly may cause injury to livestock.
