Locking your phone will prevent it from making accidental calls.

Cell phone manufacturers now include a keyboard locking feature on their phones. The purpose of this feature is to prevent phones in pockets and purses from accidentally making telephone calls when their buttons are pushed unknowingly. Nextel's i335 model cell phone allows users to lock the phone on command or set the lock so that it automatically engages itself after a specified period of time. Both options are easy-to-use and allow for rapid unlocking.

Instructions

  1. To Lock Immediately

      Verify that the phone is in standby mode. You cannot lock the phone while you are using it to do something else.

      Press the "Menu" key. The menu key is located under the display, to the left of the "OK" and navigation keys. The menu key is the one with the list icon printed on it.

      Push the "*" key to finish locking the keyboard. The asterisk key is found in the phone's lower left corner, next to the "0."

      Repeat the process to unlock the telephone when you wish to use it.

    To Set Up Delayed Locking

      Press the "Menu" key, located under the phone's display and to the left of the navigation keys.

      Use the navigation keys and "OK" buttons to select the "Settings," "Security" and "Keypad Lock" options from the on-screen menus that appear.

      Choose the "Auto Lock" option and press "OK."

      Designate the amount of time you would like your phone to be idle before it automatically locks. You may have the phone lock after 1, 5, 10 or 15 minutes of inactivity.

      Press the "Menu" key followed by the "*" key to unlock the keypad.

Tips & Warnings

  • No telephone calls can be made while they phone's keypad is locked, including calls to 911.
