How to Program Your Dish Remote to a Durabrand TV

Regardless of whether you have a cable or a satellite television service, you receive a remote control from the service provider that is pre-programmed to operate the box that controls your television's functions. However, this remote is not pre-programmed to operate the television you use when you watch satellite content. You can program the remote to recognize your TV as well, even if the TV is manufactured by a lesser-known company like Durabrand. Durabrand products are sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores, and are typically less expensive than TVs manufactured by major brands like Sony or Mitsubishi.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit the "Remote Control Code Lookup" page of your TV service provider.

    • 2

      Type "Durabrand" next to "Brand."

    • 3

Click "Search." A five-digit numeric code (10463) will appear at the top of the screen.

    • 4

Set the "Mode Switch" on the remote control to "TV."

    • 5

Press and hold the "Select" and "Mute" buttons together until the LED on the remote blinks twice.

    • 6

Enter "10463" into your remote. Point the remote toward the TV, and press "Power." If the television turns off, you know the code worked.

    • 7

Repeat steps 5 and 6, using the following codes until you find the proper code for your Durabrand TV if the first code did not work: "10171," "11034," "10003," "10178," "10180" and "11463" are the other, alternative Durabrand codes
