How to Extract Text Messages From a Motorola Phone

Losing text messages on your Motorola phone can be frustrating. Losses may be due to a software crash, accidental deletion or new messages taking the place of old messages. Your Subscriber Identification Memory (SIM) card stores your phone's internal memory, such as your mobile phone number, contacts and text messages. If you delete a text message from your phone, it still exists on the SIM card. You can get back lost text messages with a SIM card reader.

Things You'll Need

• SIM card reader
• SIM card reader software disc

Instructions

1. Install the software that came with your SIM card reader. Click "OK" on all of the window prompts. Follow the wizard for installing the software.

2. Save it to your computer's hard drive. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

3. Turn over your Motorola phone. Slide and remove the protective cover. Take out the battery and locate the SIM card, which is similar to a computer micro chip.

4. Lift it up with your fingernail. Place the SIM card into the USB side of your SIM card reader. Insert the USB into your computer's USB port.

5. Double-click the SIM card reader's icon. Wait for it to detect your phone's SIM card. Select the text message you want. To select more than one, check each one off or press and hold "Ctrl" and "Alt."

6. Click "Archive Now" to back up your text messages. They will save to your computer.
