How to Make a Shadow Box Gift for Mother's Day
When Mother's Day rolls around, it's time to start thinking about a special gift to give your mom. You could choose something from a store, such as perfume or a new scarf, or you can make something yourself. Fill a shadow box with mementos your mother will treasure forever. You could simply choose photos or you could select items like booties and clothing you wore as a child, children's art work, painted hand prints cut from wood or anything else that will be special to her.

Purchase a shadow box at a craft store that is large enough for all of your items to fit in. There are a variety of shadow boxes available, from wooden boxes to plastic ones.

3
Line the back of the shadow box with a decorative fabric that coordinates with the items you have chosen for the shadow box. You could also use wrapping paper or other types of paper.
-
4
Arrange the items in the shadow box. To create some dimension within the shadow box, mount the items on wooden blocks or pieces of foam using double-sided tape or glue before attaching them to the back of the shadow box.
-
5
Attach your items to the box, using either pins or glue. Start in the middle and work your way outward. Use embellishments to decorate the box, such as sequins, pieces of fabric, movie stubs and napkins.
