How to Clean Your Hair With Oil

How to Clean Your Hair With Oil thumbnail
Oil cleansing is not only beneficial for skin care, but is also a great method for improving hair health.

The idea of using an oil to cleanse anything may seem highly contradictory. However, using oil to dissolve oil has long been touted as an effective natural way to cleanse skin. The oil used to massage skin breaks down the oil that has become hardened and lodged within the skin's pores. Similar techniques can be used for hair care. Less abrasive than traditional shampooing techniques, using oils for a hair cleansing regimen can result in an increase in the hair's softness, elasticity and sheen. Does this Spark an idea?

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not apply heat to the hair; this method works best with air-dried hair.

  • If you begin to experience build-up on the hair, use a clarifying shampoo or rinse with apple cider vinegar to deeply cleanse.

  • Be patient with the method; it may take one to two weeks to see noticeable improvement in the hair's softness, sheen and elasticity.
