If your father, husband or the significant man in your life is hoarding ties in his closet, then consider doing something useful with this unused fabric. You do not need to know how to sew to make a necktie pillow. Simply gather old neckties and a throw pillow that needs a facelift and get started. You can complete this project in about an hour.

Instructions

    • 1

Slip a glue stick in your hot glue gun, and plug it into the wall. Allow the glue to heat for several minutes. Read the packaging instructions of your glue gun for estimates.

    • 2

Place your pillow on a flat work surface. Lay rows of ties vertically or horizontally across the pillow to get an idea of how you would like to arrange your ties. You also can weave the ties by making a row of horizontal ties, and then weaving vertical rows up and under the horizontal rows. Once you have your pattern in place, you can begin gluing.

    • 3

Glue one tie at a time. To do this, squeeze several dots of glue on the back of the bottom of the tie (where the tie is pointed and widest), and then press this section onto the bottom edge of the pillow. Continue squeezing dots of glue on the back of the tie and pressing it into the pillow until you have one vertical row glued to the front of the pillow. Do not worry about the back of the pillow right now. Repeat until the entire pillow face is covered in vertical strips of neckties.

    • 4

Snip off the excess at the top of the pillow. Then, flip over your pillow, and use the same technique to glue the ties on the back of the pillow.
