Instructions

    • 1

Trim the tips of your Kordana rose plant to a height of 6 to 8 inches. Also clip back the roots with your pruners. Place your Kordana rose bush in a bucket of water and let the roots rehydrate for 12 to 24 hours. When the roots finish soaking, you can plant your rose bush.

    • 2

Choose a location that offers your Kordana rose bush full sun and well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice as wide and just as deep as your rose plant.

For container planting, fill a container that's 10 inches deep and 8 inches wide halfway with balanced potting soil.

    • 3

Put your Kordana rose in the prepare hole so the graft site rests 2 inches below the soil surface. Hold the plant straight with one hand while pushing soil into the hole with your other hand. Firm the soil around the base of your Kordana rose, stopping when you're 2 inches from the soil surface.

Plant the rose bush in the same manner if you're using the container. Pour soil into the container to top it off, then follow all care instructions for container roses.

    • 4

Water your rose bush until the soil becomes saturated. When the water drains into the soil, top off the soil level to complete planting.

    • 5

Give your Kordana rose frequent watering. Kordes-Rosen suggests watering your plant every day in the summer months and every two to three days in the winter.

    • 6

Fertilize your rose bush with water-soluble rose fertilizer once a week in the summer months. Mix the fertilizer with your water and sprinkle the roots to disperse nutrients.

    • 7

Prune your rose bush to a height of 2 inches above the ground when it finishes flowering.
