Coffee stays warm for an extended period of time when stored in a metal carafe and just like any other fluid container the carafe needs cleaning after each use. You want to use something that safely removes the residue and coffee odor from the pot along with any water sediment that settled in the pot. Also, pay attention to the cleaners that you use when cleaning because you want to use chemically based ingredients that will damage the metal surface. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Dish soap
  • Water
  • Vinegar
  • Cleaning rags

Instructions

      Discard any coffee and rinse the coffee carafe with hot water.

      Drizzle about 1 tsp. dish soap into the carafe, fill three-quarters full with hot water and shake to thoroughly clean the interior of the carafe. Discard the water and rinse the carafe.

      Fill the carafe halfway with boiling water and halfway with white vinegar. Let the mixture sit in the carafe for about 10 minutes.

      Discard the vinegar water, rinse thoroughly with hot water and wipe down the exterior of the carafe with a clean rag to prevent water spots. Also, wipe down the interior, when possible or allow to air dry.
