How to Preserve a Veil
The bridal industry has inspired a competitive market of preservation techniques for wedding attire. Most of the preservation methods offered don't work or, worse, do damage to the stored clothing. Sealing a veil in plastic might cause damage to the fabric down the road. Storing it in a hope chest makes it vulnerable to bugs and mildew. Better to choose a garment bag designed with longevity in mind. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Purchase a garment protection bag. The ideal bag will be made of a dark, acid-free material that is waterproof, sealable, and not something bugs would want to snack on.
-
2
Store your veil by itself or with your wedding gown. Take the gown and veil to a dry cleaner for professional cleaning before preservation. You don't want to preserve a dirty veil.
-
-
3
Carefully fold your gown and slip it into the garment protection bag. Fold the veil and slide it into the bag, on top of the gown. Seal the bag.
-
4
Place the bag somewhere safe such as a closet shelf. It should be out of the way but easily accessible in case of fire.
