How to Make a Cavewoman Costume at Home
Cavewomen have been popular Halloween costumes for decades. Thanks to the Flintstones and Geico commercials, most people have come to accept an animal print toga as acceptable cavewear. While a toga-style cavewoman costume is not very historically accurate (so far as we know), it is easy to create and makes a great last-minute option for a party. Adding a few easy accessories completes the look.

1
Cut a piece of animal print fabric large enough to comfortably fit around you a few times. It should be long enough to reach from your belly button to your knees.
-
2
Cut a jagged zigzag pattern along the edges of the fabric to make it look more primitive.
-
-
3
Hold the end of the fabric at your waist and wrap it around your body a few times to form the caveskirt.
-
4
Pin the fabric to your waist with a few safety pins to hold it in place. It's best to pin them where they won't be seen.
-
5
Drape the rest of the fabric over one shoulder and tuck the remainder into the caveskirt. Hold it in place with a few more safety pins.
-
6
Add a bone necklace, bone hair clip and plastic club to finish the look. If you can go to the party barefooted, it will look more natural. If the weather is too cold, a pair of fur-lined boots will work well with the costume.
